Hello, today we will look at word problems involving four operations. The most common word problem on four operations in the SATs follows the structure of problems like 'I have a number, I multiply it by 4 , then I add 9 and divide it by 3. My final number is 11 , what was my original number ? ' . To do these problems you should do the inverse operations to the final number in the opposite order so to solve the above problem you should do 11x3=33-9=24/4=6. Other problems mix four operations with other topics such as measurement and fraction . To do these problems you should know what the problem is asking you to do . To work this out should know what certain words mean like decrease means subtract. Then you should show your working out and write your answer.
